Our perspective

One story can open
a world of understanding.

Culture endures when people record, share, and take part in it together.

Every life story holds a cultural memory worth hearing.

We focus on life stories in Chinese-speaking communities and cross-cultural exchange. Through public gatherings, creative dialogue, and visual storytelling, we hope to connect generations. Details will be announced as plans develop.

Understanding People,
Mental Health and Trauma

Dr. Lyn Westman

This training begins with whole-person care across biological, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions. It explores stress, crisis, grief, and trauma, introduces basic listening and support skills, and addresses common mental-health concerns and when to seek a higher level of care.

It may interest community partners, caregivers, and service providers who want to support others with greater understanding. This overview is based on Dr. Westman's training manual. The manual belongs to its author and is not offered here as a download.

2026 Houston training: October 29–31 and November 5–7, 40 hours total.

Location: 3535 Briarpark Dr., Houston, TX 77042.

Format: Taught in English; the original flyer lists a $120 training fee. Participation details are subject to organizer confirmation.
